Football Recap: Jefferson County Takes a Loss

Jefferson County extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-6. They were beaten by the Liberty County Bulldogs 42-6. The Tigers lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 20-13 score last time.

As for Liberty County, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.4 points on average over those games.

Leading Liberty County to victory were Wylder Harr and Matthew Lollie. Harr threw for 251 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, while Lollie gained 140 total yards and three touchdowns. Harr's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bulldogs' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Coming up, Jefferson County will host Chipley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chipley's defense has only allowed 10.4 points per game this season, so Jefferson County's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Liberty County, they will head out on the road to take on Hilliard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 939 yards in their previous games.
