Softball Recap: Shadyside Victorious

While Shadyside's victory against Shenandoah wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers won by a run and slipped past the Zeps 5-4. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.

Ariana Saxton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Josey Greenwood was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

The win got Shadyside back to even at 7-7. As for Shenandoah, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Shadyside will welcome Frontier at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shenandoah, they are taking a road trip to face off against Monroe Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
