Softball Recap: Academy for Innovative Education Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

While Academy for Innovative Education's win against Lourdes Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Aviators narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lourdes Academy 10-9. The Aviators haven't had any issues with Lourdes Academy recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Academy for Innovative Education let Lily Gil and Bella Barreiro run wild. Gil scored two runs while going 1-for-4, while Barreiro scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Barreiro posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Emily Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Academy for Innovative Education pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13 runs. As for Lourdes Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Academy for Innovative Education and Palmetto will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd. As for Lourdes Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 9-7 win against Braddock on the 21st.
