Recap: Westover Wolverines vs. Seventy-First Falcons
The Westover Wolverines came tearing into Wednesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Seventy-First by a score of 70-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Ari Fulton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Allen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Seventy-First's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mylon Campbell, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Jacquez Foster who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Foster continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. DeAndre Nance was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Westover's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.6 points per game. As for Seventy-First, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westover will take on Pine Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pine Forest is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.7 points per game.
