Football Game Preview: Holmes Aces vs. Warren County Eagles

The Holmes Aces will head out to take on the Warren County Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Holmes comes in on eight and Warren County on three.

Holmes is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 34-28 W over North Duplin. The win almost wasn't to be: the Aces were down 14-0 in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, Warren County gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. Everything went their way against East Carteret as they made off with a 44-23 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Holmes better keep an eye on Graham Hosch. He was instrumental in Warren County's win, rushing for 183 yards and one score while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Hosch didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made three total tackles. Zynir Douglas was in the mix as well, providing Warren County with two TDs.

Warren County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 395 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 199 rushing yards in seven consecutive matchups.

Warren County's defense made their presence known, laying out Luke McIntosh seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Mari Hymon and Mekhi Chavis, who racked up four sacks between them. Chavis is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Holmes' record is now 8-4. As for Warren County, their record now sits at 10-2.
