Preview: DeLand Bulldogs vs. Seminole Seminoles

DeLand is 2-8 against Seminole since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The DeLand Bulldogs will be staying on the road to face off against BDOMaxPrepsTeamGame at 7:00 p.m. on October 13th. Seminole took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on DeLand, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, DeLand humbled Deltona with a 70-12 victory. Given DeLand's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Deltona is ranked 426th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.

Tyron Moore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 282 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown. Wyatt Darlington also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Seminole unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. Their rough 28-3 loss to Cocoa might stick with them for a while.

Even if they lost, Seminole's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Preston Watson and his three sacks.

DeLand's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-1. To be fair, it's not like the team was facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Deltona and 0-6 Centennial (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 23.8% over those games). As for Seminole, their loss on Friday dropped their record down to 5-2.

Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. DeLand has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 235.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Seminole struggles in that department as they've been averaging 170.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.

DeLand ended up a good deal behind Seminole when the teams last played back in October of 2022, losing 27-10. Can DeLand avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
