Baseball Game Preview: Trimble Tech Bulldogs vs. Polytechnic Parrots

For the second straight game, Trimble Tech will face off against Polytechnic. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Parrots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Trimble Tech is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Polytechnic get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Mario Reyna was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Trimble Tech is 3-1 when Reyna posts two or more runs, but 4-11-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Samuel Avitia and Jesus Castillo did most of the damage at the plate: Avitia went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Castillo went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Castillo has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Laythyn Robles, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Trimble Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Trimble Tech's win bumped their record up to 7-12-1. As for Polytechnic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Polytechnic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Trimble Tech hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327.
