Preview: Lanham Christian Lions vs. Springdale Prep Lions
The Lanham Christian Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Springdale Prep Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lanham Christian has three straight wins, Springdale Prep has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Lanham Christian faced Mt. Zion Prep Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lanham Christian came out on top against Mt. Zion Prep Academy by a score of 74-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Lanham Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Woodard led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Woodard hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Diego Joy, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Springdale Prep pushed their score all the way to 67 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 84-67 fall against New Hope Academy.
Lanham Christian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Springdale Prep, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
