Basketball Recap: Falls Lake Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Falls Lake had won two straight road games and Jeneen Mason did her part to make it three on Thursday. The Falls Lake Firebirds took their match with ease, bagging a 58-26 win over the Chatham Central Bears thanks in part to Mason, who went 9 of 19 to rack up 26 points along with six boards and six steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Camille Murray, who posted ten points and four steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Defeat or not, Chatham Central got some senior leadership from Chloe Scott and Karaleigh Dodson. Scott scored 13 points, while Dodson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Chatham Central is 11-4 when Dodson posts eight or more boards, but 1-3 otherwise. Carlee Callahan also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Falls Lake is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.6 points over those games. As for Chatham Central, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Coming up, Falls Lake will take on East Wake Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chatham Central, they will face off against Northwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
