Volleyball Recap: Western Hills Takes Down Ranked Tates Creek

Western Hills faced Tates Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Wolverines blew past the Commodores 3-0. This was a revenge game for the Wolverines: when they faced off against the Commodores back in March, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

While Western Hills won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-23.

Leading Western Hills to victory were Shiv Patel and Ben Bayes. Patel had 23 assists and two aces, while Bayes had ten digs and one assist. That's the most assists Patel has posted over his last eight matches.

Western Hills has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Tates Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Western Hills is set to square off against their familiar foe Paul Laurence Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Tates Creek will take on rival Bryan Station at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
