Softball Recap: West Seattle Comes Up Short

West Seattle was the 12-5 winner over Seattle Prep when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. West Seattle fell 9-4 to Seattle Prep on Thursday.

West Seattle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marina Strange, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

West Seattle has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Seattle Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Seattle will face off against Holy Names Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Names Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.09 runs per game on average), something West Seattle will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Seattle Prep, they will take on Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
