Baseball Recap: Perry Meridian Takes a Loss

Perry Meridian lost against Franklin Community last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Falcons took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grizzly Cubs. Falcons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Grizzly Cubs since on Wednesday.

Jackson McDaniel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Nate Risley was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Ethan Neffle also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Perry Meridian and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Franklin Community, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Perry Meridian will welcome Southport at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Franklin Community, they will square off against Zionsville at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.
