Baseball Recap: West Valley Drops Season-High Score on North Pole

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Valley). They were the clear victors by a 16-9 margin over the North Pole Patriots on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolf Pack in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Mikko Sunnie made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because West Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-8 otherwise. Sunnie was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Elias Powell was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Mason Poulson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-9. As for North Pole, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, West Valley will take on Lathrop at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Pole, they will square off against Delta at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
