Softball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Midland Legacy's Winning Streak

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matches, Midland Legacy finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They fell just short of the Leander Lions by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rebels have suffered since April 26, 2024.

Midland Legacy got a good showing from Lily Amaya, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Amaya a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, Aliyah Valdez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Midland Legacy moved to 7-6 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Leander, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Midland Legacy will square off against Sonora at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sonora is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Leander, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions challenge the Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Leander's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Belton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
