Recap: Augusta Southeastern Suns vs. Barry Western Wildcats
The Augusta Southeastern Suns's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 50-38 victory over Barry Western. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Augusta Southeastern also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Barry Western lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Luke Weir, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weir has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jedd Abney, who scored eight points.
Augusta Southeastern's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Barry Western, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Augusta Southeastern will challenge Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seymour is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Barry Western on the road again on Thursday and play against Quincy Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Quincy Notre Dame presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Barry Western in Illinois (Quincy Notre Dame is ranked 168th, while Barry Western is ranked 680th).
