Softball Game Preview: Ravenscroft Ravens vs. Cary Academy Chargers

Ravenscroft hasn't had much luck against Cary Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Ravens will take on the Chargers at 5:30 p.m. Ravenscroft has given up an average of 16 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ravenscroft came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-7 to Durham Academy.

Ravenscroft saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole MacKinnon, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another was Macie Mackinnon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Franklin Academy hit Cary Academy with a four-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers came up short against the Patriots, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the Chargers have lost by exactly ten runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Cary Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-8. As for Ravenscroft, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Everything went Ravenscroft's way against Cary Academy when the teams last played back in March, as Ravenscroft made off with a 20-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
