Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Snags 12th Victory in Last 13 Games

There's no place like home for Lawrence County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the Brooks Lions on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-3 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Red Devils have posted against the Lions since April 11, 2017.

Jake Weathersby looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Parker Frost was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tripp Engle, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lawrence County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brooks only posted a batting average of .259.

Lawrence County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Brooks, they dropped their record down to 9-19 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Lions beat Lawrence County by a score of 3-2 later that day.
