Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). Everything went their way against the Mt. Diablo Red Devils on Wednesday as the Foothill Falcons made off with an 18-1 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Falcons with their most commanding win of the season.

Avana Vangipuram was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kaia Pentony was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brea Olsen, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.

Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Diablo only posted an OBP of .222.

Foothill pushed their record up to 3-0-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Diablo, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foothill will challenge Alameda at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Foothill's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Alameda's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mt. Diablo, they will take on Dougherty Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
