Recap: Henderson Collegiate Pride vs. Varsity Opponent

The Henderson Collegiate Pride waltzed into their game Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 66-57 win over Varsity Opponent. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Dillion Baskerville was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 20 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Nazir Shaw was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.

Henderson Collegiate pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Varsity Opponent, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 155-566-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Henderson Collegiate will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rolesville at 4:30 p.m. on December 27th. As for Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to face off against La Lumiere at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. La Lumiere knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Varsity Opponent likes a good challenge.
