Basketball Recap: Ariadni Michael Key Part of Team Effort in Texans Win

Lamar lost to Oak Ridge on Thursday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Texans walked away with a 37-27 win over the War Eagles.

Lamar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ariadni Michael, who posted 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Michael has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Semaj Hebert, who scored 11 points and five steals.

Despite the loss, Oak Ridge saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amari Robinson dropped a double-double with 13 points and 17 boards. Robinson is becoming a predictor of the War Eagles' success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 2-8 when she doesn't).

Lamar is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. As for Oak Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Lamar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-35 win against Spring Woods on the 24th. As for Oak Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-53 defeat against Tompkins on the 29th.
