Baseball Recap: Tuscaloosa Academy Beats Isabella for Their Fifth Straight Win

Tuscaloosa Academy waltzed into their match on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Isabella Mustangs a 10-0 shutout.

Ellis Hamiter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tuscaloosa Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-15 otherwise. Hamiter was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Mark Norris was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Harwood Beeker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Tuscaloosa Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Isabella only posted an OBP of .263.

Tuscaloosa Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-16. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Isabella, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tuscaloosa Academy will square off against Oak Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Isabella, they will head out to take on Greene County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
