Recap: Ruston Bearcats vs. Winnfield Tigers
If the Ruston Bearcats were feeling good off their 67-24 takedown of the Cedar Creek Cougars on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ruston took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Winnfield. Ruston was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Winnfield apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
It was another big night for Decavian Duncan, who scored 18 points for Winnfield. That makes it two consecutive games in which Duncan has scored at least 25% of Winnfield's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig St Cyr, who scored 9 points.
Ruston has fallen quite a ways from their 29-4 record last season and are now at 1-4. As for Winnfield, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ruston will square off against Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Winnfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Marksville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
