Baseball Game Preview: Cyprus Pirates vs. Murray Spartans

For the second straight game, Cyprus will face off against Murray. The Pirates will take on the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cyprus will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Cyprus lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Murray, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Pirates' pitcher stepped up to hand the Spartans a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Pirates have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Easton Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rene Hidalgo, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Cyprus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .541 or higher in four consecutive games.

Cyprus' win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Murray, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1-1.
