Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brentwood Academy). They put the hurt on the Pope John Paul II Knights with a sharp 11-1 win on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

Garrett Cyphers spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Ryan Duty was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Will Rooney, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Brentwood Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Pope John Paul II, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
