Basketball Recap: Brooklynn Babb's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Whitmire over Mccormick

Whitmire was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the McCormick Chiefs, falling 42-21. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-26 back in December of 2024.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklynn Babb, who posted nine points. That was a full 42.9% of Whitmire's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Trystan Samples was another key player, putting up two points and three blocks.

Whitmire's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for McCormick, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitmire will take on Dixie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McCormick, they will challenge Abbeville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Abbeville's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so McCormick's offense will have their work cut out for them.
