Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Riordan Crusaders vs. Palo Alto Vikings

The Archbishop Riordan Crusaders are taking a road trip to take on the Palo Alto Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Archbishop Riordan's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four matches, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Archbishop Riordan lost 7-1 to Valley Christian on Friday.

Keoni Ordonez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palo Alto). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Carlmont on Saturday, sneaking past 15-13. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Palo Alto got a massive performance out of Isaiah Walker, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Walker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dexter Cleveringa, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.

Palo Alto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Palo Alto and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Riordan, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13-1.
