Softball Game Preview: Deltona Wolves vs. Seabreeze Sandcrabs

Deltona is 9-1 against Seabreeze since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolves will take on the Sandcrabs in a tournament on Monday. Deltona is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Deltona took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Seminole by a score of 4-1. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Seminoles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Tessa Guenette spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaylene Mieres, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Amayah Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Seabreeze fell victim to New Smyrna Beach and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Barracudas, falling 17-0. The Sandcrabs haven't had much luck with the Barracudas recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Seabreeze's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Deltona, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Deltona took their win against Seabreeze in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 23-0 score. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sandcrabs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
