It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wesson had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hazlehurst Indians an 18-0 shutout. The Cobras might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Mary Gwen Hynum, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ady Rose Dowd, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Wesson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive games.

Wesson's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Hazlehurst, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wesson beat the Indians by a score of 15-0 later that day.
