Softball Recap: Hume's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

After a string of five wins, Hume's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Greenfield Wildcats by a score of 15-13. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 7-5 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kenzee Snider was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Khloe Hubbard was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hume's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Greenfield, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hume will challenge Butler at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Greenfield, they will square off against Northeast Vernon County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
