Montwood has gone a perfect 10-0 against Socorro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Rams will welcome the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses dating back to last season for Montwood and five for Socorro.

On Thursday, Montwood had to suffer through a 54-27 loss at the hands of Eastwood. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 741st, while the Troopers are ranked 108th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Christopher Ortiz, who picked up 69 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Briano, who threw for 232 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Socorro came up short against Coronado on Thursday and fell 42-29. The Bulldogs were down 42-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Socorro saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Isaac Anaya rushed for 154 yards and one score on only 13 carries. Antonio Trivizo was another key rusher, rushing for 122 yards on only 15 carries.

Montwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Socorro, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Montwood took their win against Socorro when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 42-21 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
