Basketball Game Preview: Seffner Christian Crusaders vs. Sports Leadership & Management Spartans

Seffner Christian is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will host the Sports Leadership & Management Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Sports Leadership & Management took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Seffner Christian, who comes in off a win.

Seffner Christian is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They blew past Lakeland Christian, posting a 70-40 victory. The Crusaders not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 7th (when they won 96-61).

Meanwhile, Sports Leadership & Management came up short against North Tampa Christian Academy on Tuesday and fell 62-52. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Titans 14-4 in the first quarter.

Seffner Christian will need to focus on slowing down Gzae Cartenga, one of several Sports Leadership & Management players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 13 points and five assists. Marcelino 'MJ' Rodriguez was another key player, shooting 46% from the field to rack up 14 points and five boards.

Seffner Christian couldn't quite finish off Sports Leadership & Management in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 and fell 56-53. Thankfully for the Crusaders, Derrick Doe (who went 7-for-12 en route to 23 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
