Baseball Recap: Lee Park Prep Comes Up Short

Lee Park Prep easily dispatched Oak Level Baptist Academy last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Knights fell just short of the NorthPoint Christian Academy NightHawks by a score of 3-1 on Monday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the NightHawks recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Aiden Arant was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Arant was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Lee Park Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for NorthPoint Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Lee Park Prep will challenge Westminster Catawba Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.15 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for NorthPoint Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Covenant Classical at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
