Baseball Recap: Hartfield Academy Beats Jackson Prep for Their Third Straight Victory

Hartfield Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Jackson Prep, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hartfield Academy Hawks blew past the Jackson Prep Patriots 11-2 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Hawks as they're now sitting on three straight.

JP Abt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Luke Humpherys was incredible, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Graham Jackson, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Hartfield Academy's record now sits at 12-2. As for Jackson Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4-1.

Looking ahead, Hartfield Academy will be playing at home against Cathedral at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Cathedral 2.6, Hartfield Academy 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Jackson Prep, they will head out to take on Canton Academy at 6:03 p.m. on Thursday. Canton Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Jackson Prep likes a good challenge.
