Sylvan-Lucas barely beat Ness City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Harlee Nelson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Josie Svaty was incredible, going 2-for-3 with eight stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those eight stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Olivia Crawford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Sylvan-Lucas hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
Sylvan-Lucas now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Ness City, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
