Basketball Game Preview: Dirigo Cougars vs. Madison Bulldogs

The Dirigo Cougars will take on the Madison Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dirigo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They took down Carrabec 43-26. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Dirigo found their leader in sophomore Abigail Luczynski, who went 6-for-13 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Ni?o, who posted six points and eight boards.

Dirigo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Madison waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mustangs 65-37. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 25 points or more this season.

Dirigo's record now sits at 12-8. As for Madison, their record now sits at 15-6.

Dirigo ended up a good deal behind Madison in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 45-27. Can Dirigo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
