Preview: McClain Tigers vs. Fairfield Lions
McClain and Fairfield are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The McClain Tigers will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Fairfield Lions at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought game, but McClain had to settle for a 44-42 loss against Hillsboro.
Meanwhile, Fairfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-46 walloping at the hands of Lynchburg-Clay. While losing is never fun, Fairfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 510th, while Lynchburg-Clay is ranked 182nd).
McClain has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Fairfield, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-6 record last season and are now at 2-5.
