Basketball Game Preview: Surry Central Golden Eagles vs. North Forsyth Vikings

The Surry Central Golden Eagles will face off against the North Forsyth Vikings at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses dating back to last season for Surry Central and six for North Forsyth dating back to last season.

On Tuesday, Surry Central lost to Community School of Davidson on the road by a 62-48 margin. The game marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Loss or not, Surry Central got some senior leadership from Jax Whitaker and Damen Hazelwood. Whitaker posted 16 points and four steals, while Hazelwood shot 60% from the field on his way to 18 points. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Whitaker. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Woodring, who put up six points.

Meanwhile, North Forsyth came up short against West Stokes on Wednesday and fell 65-55.

Surry Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for North Forsyth, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-5.

Surry Central was able to grind out a solid victory over North Forsyth when the teams last played back in February of 2021, winning 66-59. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
