Baseball Game Preview: Hilton Head Island Seahawks vs. Bluffton Bobcats

Hilton Head Island is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Bluffton is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Seahawks will host the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hilton Head Island has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hilton Head Island is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Sevier County 18-17. With that victory, the Seahawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Hilton Head Island got a massive performance out of Slater Alsobrook, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Alsobrook a new career-high. Jensen Boretti was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

Hilton Head Island always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Bluffton fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against May River on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 12-8 to the Sharks. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Bradley Robbins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Carter All, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Hilton Head Island's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Bluffton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Hilton Head Island beat Bluffton 5-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will the Seahawks repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
