Basketball Recap: Glendale Takes a Loss

Glendale extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-62 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sierra Linda Bulldogs. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 59-45 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in February of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Glendale lost, don't look at Zinan Renfrew. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Renfrew is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Goorin, who went 5-for-12 en route to 13 points and seven boards.

As for Sierra Linda, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games.

Sierra Linda's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elie Iranzi led the charge by shooting 50% from the field on his way to 13 points and eight steals. The Bulldogs are undefeated when Iranzi posts five or more steals, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alonso Parada, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds.

Glendale has already played their next contest (against Independence), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sierra Linda also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Washington.
