Basketball Recap: Hi-Plains Takes a Loss

Hi-Plains was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 49-40 to the Bethune Bobcats. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Bethune's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Salinas, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points and four steals. Salinas continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Gitschlag, who posted ten points and eight rebounds.

Hi-Plains' loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Bethune, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14.

While Hi-Plains had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
