Recap: Forney Jackrabbits vs. Richland Royals
The Forney Jackrabbits had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Richland 61-40. The result was nothing new for Forney, who have now won ten games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Forney's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javian Osborne, who rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Osborne is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Forney also got help from Orin Gee who showed off his sure hands for 107 receiving yards.
Forney's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. The heavy lifting was done by Tristan Bennett and Xzavier Young who racked up four sacks between them.
Several Royals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drew Kates, who threw for 335 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Michael Turner was another key contributor, gaining 178 total yards and two touchdowns.
The victory (which was Forney's seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-1. As for Richland, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-1.
Forney will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Lancaster will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. Richland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
