Baseball Recap: Porter Takes a Loss

Porter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-0 to the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets. The Cowboys were not able to make up for their defeat to the Yellowjackets from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Ian Cortez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Porter now has a losing record of 13-14-2. As for Edcouch-Elsa, their record is now 8-18.

While Porter had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
