Baseball Recap: Union City Beats Hudson Catholic for Their Second Straight Win

Union City won against Memorial last Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Soaring Eagles didn't even let the Hudson Catholic Hawks on the board, marking the Soaring Eagles' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Soaring Eagles have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Union City got a massive performance out of Guillermo Soto, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave Soto a new career-high. LJ Santiago was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Union City and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Hudson Catholic, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Union City will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
