Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Christian Crusaders vs. Payson Longhorns

The Northwest Christian Crusaders will head out to face off against the Payson Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northwest Christian is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

Northwest Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Bourgade Catholic on Tuesday. Northwest Christian blew past Bourgade Catholic 12-2.

Meanwhile, Payson unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Benjamin Franklin by a score of 5-4.

Northwest Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Payson, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.

Northwest Christian took their victory against Payson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. Will Northwest Christian repeat their success, or does Payson has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
