Football Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Foothill Falcons + How To Watch

The Coronado Cougars will face off against the Foothill Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coronado has given up an average of 37.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Coronado is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against San Clemente on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Cougars came up short against the Tritons, falling 39-14.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jake Carsrud, who rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 67 yards. Jackson Humphries was another key passer, throwing for 116 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). They blew past Basic, posting a 68-27 win. The Falcons pushed the score to 68-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolves cut but never quite recovered from.

A big part of Foothill's victory came down to the chemistry between Ryder Dobbs and his top target Braxton Bonnett. Dobbs threw for 425 yards and eight touchdowns while picking up 17.7 yards per attempt while Bonnett picked up 237 receiving yards and five scores. With that strong performance, Bonnett is now averaging an impressive 112.4 receiving yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Taylor, who gained 78 total yards and a touchdown.

Foothill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brody Dobbs and Jacob Ellsworth. Ellsworth got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Foothill now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Coronado, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Coronado strolled past Foothill in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 29-15. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
