Baseball Game Preview: West Florence Knights vs. Wilson Tigers

West Florence has gone 8-2 against Wilson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Florence has five straight victories, Wilson has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

West Florence came out on top against Westwood on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Knights put the hurt on the Redhawks with a sharp 8-1 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Cooper Coleman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Coscetti, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Lucas Perry was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

West Florence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Wilson's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to Lake City, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Wilson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Wilsoon, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

West Florence's record now sits at 17-4. As for Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Everything went West Florence's way against Wilson in their previous meeting back in March, as West Florence made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
