Preview: Windsor Academy Knights vs. Holy Spirit Prep Cougars
Windsor Academy is 7-0 against Holy Spirit Prep since August of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Windsor Academy Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Holy Spirit Prep Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Windsor Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 51-6 win over Westminster Christian Academy at home. The win was nothing new for Windsor Academy as they're now sitting on four straight.
Jay Singleton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 212 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Singleton really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. Another player making a difference was Mason Merritt, who threw for 198 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Windsor Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Braelin Parsons was especially locked on to Westminster Christian Academy's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Holy Spirit Prep faced John Hancock Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went Holy Spirit Prep's way against John Hancock Academy on Friday as Holy Spirit Prep made off with a 37-12 victory. The win was familiar territory for Holy Spirit Prep who now have nine in a row.
Windsor Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Holy Spirit Prep, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Windsor Academy against Holy Spirit Prep in their previous matchup back in August as the team secured a 60-25 win. Does Windsor Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Holy Spirit Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
