Basketball Recap: Pomeroy Piles Up the Points Against Dayton

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Pomeroy on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Dayton Bulldogs out of the water with a 50-11 final score. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Pomeroy to victory were Braxton McKeirnan and Jett Slusser. McKeirnan went 7 for 13 en route to 16 points, while Slusser posted six points along with ten rebounds and six steals. That's the most steals Slusser has posted since back in January of 2024. Kyzer Herres was another key player, putting up four points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Pomeroy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.4 points. As for Dayton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Pomeroy and Garfield-Palouse will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Garfield-Palouse has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 199 points over their last three games. As for Dayton, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Oakesdale at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oakesdale will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Dayton surely won't give up without a fight.
