Preview: St.Ignace Saints vs. Gaylord Blue Devils
St.Ignace is 0-4 against Gaylord since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The St.Ignace Saints will look to defend their home court against the Gaylord Blue Devils at 7:15 p.m. St.Ignace has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 574 points over their last nine games.
Even though Newberry scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, St.Ignace still came out on top. St.Ignace strolled past Newberry with points to spare, taking the game 69-55. 69 seems to be a good number for St.Ignace as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, Gaylord's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cadillac. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gaylord has scored all season.
Gaylord's defeat came about despite a quality game from Luke Gelow, who scored 36 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 76.6% of Gaylord's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Cayden Keck was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Gaylord struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
St.Ignace pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Gaylord, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
