Soccer Game Preview: Ferguson vs. Mourning

The Ferguson Falcons will head out to challenge the Mourning Sharks at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mourning better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Ferguson really get things going. Ferguson put the hurt on Varela with a sharp 3-0 win on Monday. Considering the Falcons have won eight matchups by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mourning, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They won by a goal and slipped past Booker T. Washington 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Sharks were the better team in the second half.

Mourning's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those four contests. As for Ferguson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4-2.

Everything went Ferguson's way against Mourning in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, as Ferguson made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ferguson since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
